New OpenTrack Feature: Rankings in Start Lists
You can never have too many stats, and we've just added some more
Athletics is always made up of lists of one form or another — results lists, all-time lists, ranking lists — but today we’re delighted to be adding an extra layer of detail to start lists on OpenTrack!
In this update:
Introducing Rankings Display
Understanding Rankings
Implementing for your Competition
With the ability to pull world and national rankings from multiple statistical partners, OpenTrack can deliver the all-important context into the hands of fans, no matter the event.
Introducing Rankings Display
Start lists in OpenTrack can now display both world and national rankings, thanks to our integrations with World Athletics and the Power of 10 in the UK.
Appearing next to the personal best and season’s best data collected from our statistical partners, this is just the latest step in making OpenTrack as rich with information as possible.
For athletes outside of the senior age group, age group rankings are often much more relevant, and so these will display with a note, in order to provide the most important details.
Understanding Rankings
For world rankings, World Athletics has pre-defined event groups into which all events fall, and so the ranking that appears will be the athlete’s ranking for that specific event group.
For athletes in the UK, the ranking that appears will be the one that matches the event code of the event you are looking at, with the competition type (indoors or outdoors) selecting the correct ranking for you.
Implementing for your Competition
We are having a gradual rollout for this feature across OpenTrack, which means it will be made available to a limited number of organisers at first, with full documentation and access to come later.
Keep an eye out on future OpenTrack competitions for further developments as we progress, and make sure you keep reading our weekly updates to hear more!
If you would like to hear more about this feature, or how generally to give your meetings that little bit of extra sparkle, let us know and we can help you bring the best of OpenTrack to your competitors.
As always, if you have any feedback, requests, or want help bringing your athletics into the 21st century, feel free to get in touch at info@opentrack.run.
