It’s been a while since you last heard from us, and we’d hate for you to think we’ve not been doing that much, so this is hopefully a quick (and very readable) summary of where we’ve been, and where we are now.
What’s been happening?
Competitions
We’re only a month or two into the year, but there’s plenty to shout about — with both indoor and cross country in full swing, there’s something for everyone.
Our combined event results tables have been put to good use across Europe, with Norway, Bulgaria, Serbia, and the UK all helping multi-eventers track their results in real time.
Results have been flying in from across the world at all levels, with elite competitions such as the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver Belgrade Indoor Meeting, and Moldovan National Championships, as well as the Northern Tanzania Schools Athletics Championships and London Indoor Games at the grassroots!
New Signings
We’re delighted to have been working with Bulgaria since the beginning of the year, and with over 4,000 results in their competitions so far this year, we can’t wait to make athletics easier in another part of the world.
Those of you with a strong command of Bulgarian (or access to Google Translate) can take a look at everything that’s been happening at atletikabg.com, the Bulgarian athletics magazine.
With trials in ongoing in nearly half a dozen other countries, we look forward to making more announcements soon!
More eyes than ever
With more going on than ever before, it’s no wonder that this indoor season has set record highs.
Those of you keen on the stats can take a deep dive, but the headline figures show a more than 50% increase on the number of people looking at competitions on OpenTrack when compared with this time last year!
What have we been up to?
Performance
As organisers ourselves, we recognise that managing your competition needs to happen fast, and we’ve been hard at work on making things run snappier than ever before.
Having made significant upgrades behind the scenes, the end result is a performance improvement that means start lists and results load almost instantly, and working on your own meetings will be significantly faster too!
Records
At the moment, we’re working hard on adding a new dimension to how we display information on OpenTrack — no-one wants to have to open another tab and start searching for information when it should already be there at your fingertips.
The first step in this is world and national record display, using our integration with World Athletics, but there’ll be much more to come as time progresses — watch this space!
World Athletics integration
We are currently testing and polishing being able to send calendar applications and results to World Athletics from within OpenTrack, and we look forward to rolling these out in the near future.
Everything else
This update is by no means an exhaustive list of everything we’ve been up to, or are working on in the near future — if you’d like to hear more about what we’re doing to make OpenTrack work better for you, please get in touch!
We hope that this update gives a good idea of where we’ve been over the past month — there’ll be plenty more where that came from over the coming weeks!
As always, if you have any feedback, requests, or want help bringing your athletics into the 21st century, feel free to get in touch at info@opentrack.run.
