OpenTrack at the Championships of the Small States of Europe
A look at the features that helped make the championships a success
Towards the end of June, OpenTrack was delighted to host results for the Championships of the Small States of Europe, providing both the platform and the in-person support needed to help an international championships run smoothly.
With athletes from 16 countries and territories across Europe coming to Gibraltar to compete for individual and team glory, every element of the competition was made simple, with results, live scores, and livestream graphics at the fingertips of those both in the stadium and across the continent.
Team Scoring
Though plenty of medals were handed out on the day, it wasn’t just individual accolades up for grabs, and a custom scoring system ensured that performances were scored and counted instantly, with team rankings never more than a click away.
On the day, it was no surprise that the larger of the small states came out on top, Cyprus securing the team prize in the last event of the day, the men’s 110 metre hurdles.
World Athletics Points
In addition to the team competition, the best men’s and women’s performers on the day according to the World Athletics Scoring Tables gained individual prizes.
Using our new World Athletics points calculation feature (more on that soon), Alexandra Emilianov’s 61.87 championship record in the women’s discus saw her produce the leading women’s performance on the day, equivalent to 1106 points.
To turn on both World Athletics and Raza (para-athletics) points calculation for your competition, head to the Comp Details management screen, and check ‘Show WA/Raza points’.
Records
With Gibraltar hosting the fifth edition of the championships, plenty of high quality performances had come before, allowing us to make best use of our records features.
Thanks to this, championship records were displayed on every event, with national and world records also pulled from World Athletics.
The day saw nine championship records, and we look forward to adding more wherever the Championships end up in 2026!
TV Console
Another premium feature in use at the championships was our TV console, used for the entirety of the championships livestream.
With start lists, results, and timetable graphics providing a clear picture of what was going on out on the track, the live scores graphic also allowed viewers to keep track off the team competition without needing to open a new tab.
If any of these features could add something to your competition, or on-site support to help you run your competition effortlessly sounds like something you’d be interested in, let us know.
