Taking a look at OpenTrack's chip timing integration, ready for use in the 2024 autumn race season and beyond
With autumn and winter fast approaching, and cross country and road racing about to ramp up again, it’s a great time to revisit OpenTrack’s chip timing integration and consider what it can do for your chip timed competitions.
In this update:
Benefits of chip timing integration
Effortless integration configuration
Working with individual races, relay races, and intermediate splits
Built and developed this year in collaboration with BMAF, OpenTrack’s chip timing integration is available for use in both individual and relay races.
Though this piece focuses on RaceTec, widely used across the UK and beyond, integrations with MYLAPS and Race Result are also available.
Benefits of chip timing integration
Using OpenTrack’s chip timing integration means having access to all of the OpenTrack competition management features that make your life easier, whilst letting the chip timers do what they do best!
Easy integration means the sky is the limit for stepping up your competition delivery, with all standard features available for use, including:
Livestream graphics (our TV console)
Automatically generated social media graphics
Any number of custom and fully configurable scoring tables

Effortless integration configuration
Setting up OpenTrack’s RaceTec integration can be done in two simple steps.
Step 1: Simply add the URLs where your results will appear as athletes cross the finish line.
Step 2: Click Fetch to manually pull the latest results, or set a time in the future to collect results until, and OpenTrack will do the work for you, updating every minute.
Working with individual races, relay races, and intermediate splits
No race is ever the same, and OpenTrack is set up to pull in results from any kind of competition.
Individual Races
While a straightforward 5K or 10K is just that, straightforward, with no work beyond the short two steps above, you can also set up OpenTrack to receive mid-race splits, allowing spectators to dive into the detail of your races.
Relay Races
Using OpenTrack’s chip timing integration for relay events is just as easy as using it for races with individual runners, with the integration having been developed specifically for the British Masters’ Open Road Relay Championships.
A key benefit of integration is being able to keep the competition management side of things on OpenTrack.
With team declarations that can be updated in real time by team managers, correct athlete names will always show in results, and you can cut out all the admin, spreadsheets, and paperwork that would otherwise be needed.
