The indoor season keeps powering onwards, and we’ve seen athletics on OpenTrack in nearly a dozen countries and territories over the past week.
With more organisers than ever making use of our photofinish integration to smoothly run their competitions, and many more features besides, it’s a great time to make the switch to OpenTrack for all your competition management needs.
In this update:
Balkan U20 Indoor Championships

Coming up
With plenty more still to come in this indoor season, the quality and the quantity of the action so far has been high, and you can read all about it below.
Balkan U20 Indoor Championships
In yet another edition of the Balkan Championships to be held on OpenTrack, Bulgaria played host to the stars of tomorrow, as over 250 U20s went head-to-head to be crowned regional champion.
The competition made use of OpenTrack’s medal table functionality, and Turkey came out on top with seven golds, up from third in last year’s championships in Serbia.
Among the most impressive performances was a win in the women’s triple jump for Romanian Daria Maria Vrinceanu, her 13.40 winning jump placing her top U18 in the world this year by over 25 centimetres.
Serbia vs Croatia vs Slovenia
Also appearing again on OpenTrack was the head-to-head international match between Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia, back for another year.
The fierce competition included a men's pole vault competition where the top four athletes all cleared 5 metres, only to be split on countback.
Andorra, meet photofinish integration
There’s plenty more to life beyond international championships, and another highlight of the past week was seeing the Andorran federation deliver their first meeting making use of OpenTrack’s photofinish integration, producing seamless instant results.
With 40 competitors at their meeting in Ordino, about 0.05% of the country’s population were competing across a range of events including long jump, pole vault, and high jump — for those of you in the UK, that proportion of the population is like putting on a competition for the entire population of Epsom!
Coming up
The next week promises to be just as packed as the last, with World Athletics Indoor Tour pole vault action at the Memorial Josip Gasparac.
The Ayo Falola Dream Mile takes place on Wednesday, with plenty of men targeting the first sub-4 clocking indoors in the UK this year (11 men have managed it out in the states so far).
Finally, after the U20s this past weekend in Bulgaria, the senior Balkan Athletics Indoor Championships takes place in Serbia this coming weekend, with top athletes from more than 20 countries set to take part.
We can’t wait for the next week of athletics on OpenTrack, and we’d love to add your competitions too — we’re always eager to hear how we can help you deliver the best competition possible.
