New Features: Para Integration, Throw Weights, and more
All the ways OpenTrack got friendlier to use this week
We’re into April, and with competitions happening on OpenTrack left, right, and centre, and temperatures climbing at our Wimbledon HQ, we’re ready to declare the summer season open!
This week we’re delighted to be expanding our para athletics integration, making results easier to follow, and competitions even easier to manage.
Para classifications
The key element of our updates this time around is making full use of athletes’ classifications. Simply add once, and see them in every place that matters, both online and in printouts.
Add within a competition
Athletes whose para classification we have on record is added automatically when they enter or are added to a competition.
If you want to add a classification, just head on over to the Advanced tab of the competitor edit screen in Manage Competitors.
Adding to a person (UK)
For those of you in the UK, running a PB lookup on your event will pick up the classifications for your competitors.
Adding to a person (elsewhere)
If you’re a federation administrator, we’re happy to add the classification details of your athletes in bulk — just let us know!
Classification display
Once a competitor has their classification stored, you’ll be able to see it in start lists, results, and competitor lists, without needing to lift a finger — simple!
For a fuller understanding of just how the new features can be used, take a look at the Surrey County Disability Championships from this past weekend.
We’re continuing work on our para integration behind the scenes, so feel free to let us know what you’d like to see.
Making throw weights friendlier
Getting results right for throws competitions using multiple implement weights has always been challenging, and so we’ve simplified things, allowing you to add the correct weight for your competitors with one click.
For standard World Athletics, World Masters Athletics, or UK Athletics age groups, it’s now even easier to see who threw what, at the touch of a button.
If things need tweaking, you are still able to adjust manually, but we hope this is another way in which OpenTrack can save time for competition organisers.
If you need us to add your country’s custom weight-age group combinations, just get in touch.
Competition setup hacks
Another addition that should help cut out repetitive tasks is our new timing precision setup options in the Audit and Tools management screen.
Simply select whether to show your race results to the nearest second, tenth, hundredth, or thousandth, and update with a click.
This sits alongside our other bulk tools for setting your events’ seeding type and field rules — we’re happy to add to this suite if there is something that might make your life easier!
Poll of the week
We’re happy to take any questions or comments on any of these new features as we look to optimise them for use in competitions across the world.
As always, if you have any feedback, requests, or want help bringing your athletics into the 21st century, feel free to get in touch at info@opentrack.run.
